The brightest stars are the easiest to spot in a clear sky. So when Service Now announced the 2022 Developer MVPs, it was no surprise that just short of a constellation of Clear Skye’s developers were in the fold—four of 26 honorees to be exact. We’re proud to congratulate our very own Jarod Mundt, Sharon Barnes, Maria Gabriela Ochoa Perez Waechter (Gabi), and Travis Toulson for this achievement.
The Developer MVPs are a collection of ServiceNow developers who are passionate about ServiceNow and inspire other developers by sharing their extensive knowledge openly and inclusively. They help, encourage, and enable developers of all skill levels and types succeed in building and developing on the Now Platform. The ServiceNow MVP recognition is an extension of ServiceNow’s appreciation for the influence and technical credibility these members have demonstrated over the last year.
But as they say, with great power comes great responsibility, and the fame, fortune, and great renown of being an MVP doesn’t come easily. Selection is based on a variety of factors not limited to GitHub contributions, technical blog and video content with live coding streams, social media engagement, and participation in developer activities, such as Hacktoberfest and ServiceNow’s Mentorship program. Another important criterion includes public presentation and talks at industry events. One that comes to mind is ServiceNow Knowledge.
And it just so happens, our Clear Skye all-stars—meaning our MVPs and then some— are speaking at the upcoming Knowledge event. The session topics and presentations are ones you won’t want to miss. Especially the tracks from Jarod, Gabi, Sharon, and Jesalyn Smith. We’re not biased or anything…see for yourself! Without further ado, meet our ServiceNow Developer MVP’s and learn more about their Knowledge participation.

Knowledge Session: Build developer friendly APIs with JSON Schema Validation
Take your Scripted REST APIs (and server-side functions) to the next level by validating the request before any data processing begins. Your instance will be able to consolidate multiple warnings and errors into a single detailed response to the client. Data errors will be reduced and time to value improved!

Knowledge Session: (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Hack your environment to work for you ✶✩
Did you know you can use emojis in ServiceNow scripts? (¬‿¬ )
Developing is understanding, solving, and improving both yourself and your code. I have struggled and achieved success in many ways on the rocky road to becoming a developer. I will share my experience thriving in an environment dominated by neurotypical expectations and processes, habits that I adhere to, and what I do when those coping skills don't work out. (60% of the time they work all the time) If you are a visual person like me, I'll even have tips on how I made giant blocks of code easier to work with!

Knowledge Session: Dev-ternships: The best way to grow your ServiceNow Team
Is your company struggling to find the talent you want? Learn how I built an internship program to precisely grow the talent we needed. While at NuAxis Innovations, we searched for passionate individuals who were eager to learn and great at communicating. To supplement hiring experienced developers, I started a Dev-ternship.
During 12-weeks, interns gained the skills to become ServiceNow Developers. Weekly lessons combined hands-on experience with mentorship and classes. I will tell you everything you need to know to get your program started and avoid the hiccups we encountered along the way.

Knowledge Session: Stepping beyond the portal: Transitioning your skills to the Now Experience
Coming from the safe creative sandbox of Service Portal, the world of the Now Experience Framework can seem downright hostile. In addition to losing ng-everything, Angular Providers, and the simple server script, the new framework adds countless new concepts and tools. The even better news is that there are many parallels between Service Portal and the Now Experience. In this session, we will use the familiarity of Service Portal to help us transition our skills to Components and UI Builder. Join me as we explore the Now Experience way to do Instance Options, ng-click, c.server.update, and more.
If you’ve made it this far into the post, we’re going to add a bonus. To double up on the knowledge—pun intended—Gabi and Jesalyn will also be presenting a joint session:
Jesalyn Smith, Product Developer, Clear Skye
Knowledge Session: 5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Even Attempting to Localize My Scoped Application (co-presented with Gabi)
Mindlessly scrolling the internet in hopes that someone has the answers to your i18n questions? I was in your shoes once. Adding translations to your Scoped Application doesn’t have to take you down an internet rabbit hole! Learn from my pain — we’ll cover project planning considerations, implementation strategies, and hard lessons learned along the way. By the end of this session, you’ll be ready to activate the translation plugin and add languages and localization to your custom ServiceNow app.
